The Padma Awards for 2025 were announced on Saturday. These awards began in 1954 and are among the most respected awards in India. There are three kinds of Padma Awards: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri. The Ministry of Home Affairs reported that there are seven winners of the Padma Vibhushan, 19 winners of the Padma Bhushan, and 113 winners of the Padma Shri. Out of all the winners, 23 are women. In March and April of this year, President Droupadi Murmu of India will give out these awards. They honor individuals who have done excellent work in fields such as art, writing, teaching, sports, health, helping others, science, engineering, public service, and business.
The Padma Vibhushan is the second highest award for civilians in India. Folk singer Sharda Sinha got this award before she died on November 5 last year in Delhi. M T Vasudevan Nair, a writer and director from the Malayalam film industry, also received this award. He died in December last year.
The Padma Bhushan is the third most important award for everyday people. Tamil actor Ajith Kumar, Telugu actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, Anant Nag, Jatin Goswami, the late singer Pankaj Udhas, and filmmaker Shekhar Kapur are some of the people who have received the Padma Bhushan.
